On Monday, April 5, 2021, Dr. Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health and CEO of WDG Public Health, has issued a Section 22 Order under the Health Protection and Promotion Act. The Order directs all schools within Upper Grand District School Board, Wellington Catholic District School Board, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, Conseil scolaire Viamonde, and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir located within Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph to cease in-person learning effective Wednesday, April 7, 2021. Schools would be eligible to return to in-person learning no sooner than Monday, April 19, 2021.

Child Care will remain open for the duration of the time-limited public health actions to Infant, Toddler and Preschool age groups. However, from April 7th to 16th, 2021, licensed child care centres are prohibited from serving school-aged children. In order to help support families of essential workers impacted by this closure, the County of Dufferin has implemented Temporary Emergency Child Care for School-Aged Children at no cost to eligible parents. At this time, this will be offered for the week of April 12-16. A list of those individuals eligible for Temporary Emergency Child Care can be found here
