The Workforce Planning Board of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin (WWD) is organizing an event to assist employers in post-Pandemic youth hiring practices. This event will map out a variety of services and resources available to you when hiring from the youth talent pool.

WWD are bringing together three experts who have been working with youth and employers for many years assisting both groups in finding the right candidates for employers and finding the right positions for youth. You will learn first-hand what services and resources are available to you in each area (Waterloo Region, Wellington County and Dufferin County). There are many agencies and services that you can reach out and we want to organize the resources for you.

Why this event is valuable to you and is worth your time?

  • You will learn what organizations exist to assist you with hiring
  • You will learn which groups of youth are most suitable to the positions you are looking to fill and where to find the right help
  • You will learn about the services and what value they will bring you when hiring youth
  • We will address some of the concerns that we heard from employers (samples of work to give to youth on a short-term placement and a variety of ways to engage youth and bring them to your workplace)
  • You will learn how to reach out to the service providers to save time when looking for the right candidates and more!

Guest Speakers:

Tracy Hunter: Leader of Experiential Learning for the Upper Grand DSB

Gerry Holden: Industry Liaison Coordinator for Georgian College

Allison Mitchell: Program Manager, Access Student Talent for the Great KW Chamber of Commerce

After the event each employer will receive a 1-pager from each expert with the valuable information about their services and resources.

The event will be hosted virtually through Zoom platform. The presentation will take be one hour, and we are hosting an optional QA session after the presentation. You are welcome to send us questions in advance to olga@workforceplanningboard.com.
