Property owners in Dufferin County are responsible for destroying noxious weeds on their property that may have an impact on agricultural or horticultural land.

The Weed Control Act of Ontario states that all property owners are responsible for destroying noxious weeds on their property unless the weeds or weed seeds are deemed by the Weed Inspector to be far enough away from any land used for agricultural or horticultural purposes that they do not interfere with that use.

Dufferin County acts on behalf of the municipalities of Amaranth, East Garafraxa, Grand Valley, Melancthon, Mono, Mulmur, and Shelburne in controlling noxious weeds. Residents of the Town of Orangeville should visit the Town’s website for information on their weed control program.
