May 5 is the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two-Spirit People. Also known as Red Dress Day.

The red dress acts as a visual reminder of the missing Indigenous women, girls and Two-Spirit people, and a call for Canadians to take action.

On this day, Dufferin County honours and remembers all missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people. We encourage you to learn more and read Canada’s 2021 National Action Plan and Reclaiming Power and Place: The Final Report of the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

The Dufferin County Cultural Resource Circle is hosting a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women Ceremony on May 5 at 10 am at the Alder Street Recreation Centre (275 Alder St, Orangeville).

A support line is available for those affected by MMWIG2S+ loss: 1-844-413-6649.
