Early Childhood Educators are employed in child care settings, Ontario Early Years Centres and other agencies that support the growth and development of children and are essential to quality early years experiences. They set the stage for play-based child-led learning, providing socio-emotional and physical support, working with others to develop individualized program plans and engaging in reflective practices that ensure a better relationship with children, families, colleagues and community members. They work in partnership with parents and caregivers to help children reach their full potential.
The County of Dufferin, as the Consolidated Municipal Service Manager (CMSM), is committed to providing opportunities for continuous professional learning and development for all Early Childhood Educators and to ensuring that the best possible quality care is available to the families in our community. Raising the Bar is a community initiative to promote and support Early Childhood Educators in their continuous commitment to excellence in early learning and child care programs. The program provides a framework for best practice to guide early learning and child care operators in delivering high quality services for children and families. In addition to the best practice framework, Raising the Bar helps to ensure practices are current and responsive to family and community needs by engaging educators in ongoing Reflective Practice, Mentoring, and Continuous Professional Learning.
