Every year Dufferin County gives out FREE home energy efficiency kits at events throughout the community!
This step-by-step video guide will walk you through the contents of the kit and provide easy-to-follow instructions on implementing energy-saving measures.
Your kit, valued at $30, is designed to help you save money, improve indoor air quality, increase comfort, and reduce climate change causing emissions. Inside your kit, you’ll find easy to install items to help you maximize your home’s energy efficiency including a furnace whistle, hot water temperature check card, LED night light, weather-stripping, and foam gaskets.
*Please note the fridge thermometer has been replaced by a hot water temperature check card. In most homes, water tanks are set to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, when 120 degrees Fahrenheit is suitable. This water temperature card shows you to see whether or not the proper settings are in place. For every 10 degrees the temperature is reduced, $10 can be saved per year on water heating costs.
