Access Dufferin
The Council of every municipality having a population of more than 10,000 people is required to establish an accessibility advisory committee, made up of members of the public. The committee advises the council about the requirements and implementation of accessible standards.
Pursuant to the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), the Accessibility Advisory Committee shall:
- Advise Council about the requirements and implementation of accessibility standards and the preparation of accessibility reports and such other matters for which Council may seek its advice
- Review site plans in a timely manner and drawings described in section 41 of the Planning Act that the committee selects; and
- Perform all other functions that are specified in the regulations
Building and Planning Services Task Force
The Building and Planning Services Task Force’s mandate is to identify opportunities to facilitate construction in Dufferin County. Specifically, it will seek to strengthen relationships among staff, council members, and builders; improve knowledge-sharing about development-related services; identify gaps and best practices across the County; and recommend improvements to Council to enhance building and planning services.
Dufferin County Forest Advisory Team
The Dufferin Outdoor Recreation Advisory Team is a working group and forum for discussion. It is an advisory body and may make recommendations to County staff and County Council.
Joint Compliance Audit Committee
The Joint Compliance Audit Committee is responsible for reviewing compliance audit applications submitted by an elector who believes on reasonable grounds that a candidate or third-party advertiser has contravened the provisions of the Municipal Elections Act relating to campaign or advertising finances. The Committee will be responsible for reviewing applications for all eight Dufferin municipalities.
Museum Advisory Committee
The Ontario Standards for Community Museums requires community museums to demonstrate ongoing engagement, oversight and governance support. The Museum Advisory Committee has been established to facilitate transparent and clear communication regarding the museum’s operations, standards, and funding.
