Flood Watch issued for Dufferin County
The Grand River Conservation Authority has issued a Flood Watch for the entire Grand River Watershed, including in Dufferin County, and flooding has been reported in Grand Valley, Amaranth and East Garafraxa.
More rain is forecasted for today, March 16. The snowpack across the watershed has been melting from recent warm temperatures, which has led to increased water levels. Higher flows in local waterways, combined with runoff for this event, will increase the risk of flooding in low-lying areas.
Residents are asked to:
- Stay updated. Monitor local weather forecasts and emergency alerts. Seek information from trusted sources including the local municipalities and the Ontario Provincial Police. For road closure information visit Municipal511.
- Avoid flooded areas. Never drive or walk through flooded streets or water-covered areas. Flood waters can rise rapidly, making them unsafe. or water-covered areas. Flood waters can rise rapidly, making them unsafe.

- Maintain drains and gutters. Clear gutters, drains, and downspouts of debris to minimize the risk of water backup and reduce flooding around your property.
